ABOUT THE PROJECT
Q: What is WCAnimated?WCAnimated is a fanmade animated adaptation inspired by the bestselling Warriors series by Erin Hunter. We are a group of over 100 creatives working together to bring this series to life.
Q: What is Warriors?Warriors is a middle grade novel series written by Erin Hunter and published by HarperCollins. The fantasy series follows the adventures of feral cats living in Clans. The franchise currently has over 50 installments, including story guides and spin-offs, as well as an active and diverse fanbase, most famous for its thriving community of animators and other creatives. You can purchase the books and find more information on the series here.
Q: Which of the books will you be adapting? We currently plan to create our own take on the story of the original arc (The Prophecies Begin), which consists of the first six books in the series.
Q: When will the episodes be released?Due to the nature of this project, we are unable to set a hard release date. Our team members are volunteers and work for this project in their free time, so while we do our best to work as efficiently as possible, we still build our progress around the schedules and availability of our team.
Q:How loyal to the books will the series be?While we believe some level of loyalty to the source is valuable, we have altered, added, or cut scenes, reworked dialogue, and changed some themes and events for reasons of runtime and in order to better enhance the story and serve its audience.
Q: What inspired this project?WCAnimated is primarily inspired by the Warrior Cats fandom itself! The community is one of the most passionate, artistic, and vibrant out there and we are amazed everyday by the incredible creators and fans.
Q: Is this project officially associated with Warriors or Working Partners? No. This project is entirely fan-made and independently created. We are in no way associated with Erin Hunter or Working Partners.
Q: Are you aware of the Official Warrior Cats restrictions on animated fan projects/will this project be cancelled?Yes, we are aware of the updated information on the official website. We are doing our best to work within the provided guidelines by creating our own take on the stories and characters. Should the status of the project change, we will of course notify our fans.
Q: Where can I watch the episodes? All of our completed episodes will be uploaded onto our YouTube channel!
Q: Who owns the project? While we don’t consider the project “owned” by any one individual, it is largely led and organized by our head director, Tune, and our team of department directors. Read more about our directors here!
Q: How long until the series is complete?Again, this is not something we are currently able to gauge. It will likely vary from episode to episode, but as we are a volunteer project, release dates and ETAs are subject to change.
Q: Will you create a Season 2 once the first arc is complete? It’s not out of the question! It largely will depend on how long it takes to complete the first arc as well as public interest.
Q: Can I re-upload WCAnimated content onto other sites? No. We do not permit our content being uploaded to any sites or accounts unaffiliated with our project.
Q: How can I support the project?Following us on social media, as well as liking, sharing, and commenting on our posts is a huge help! If you want to take it a step further, consider subscribing to our Patreon! Applying to the team or spreading the word when we open applications is also a great way to help the project.
Q: Where does Patreon money go?The money we receive through Patreon is used to help team members get the programs or supplies they need to make WCAnimated possible, including software licenses and equipment like drawing tablets. Furthermore, we have been able to use the funds to offer aid to humanitarian organizations, including to refugees abroad and to the people of Maui after the fires.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Q: Can I join the team?Yes! We have occasional openings in which you can apply to join our crew in a multitude of roles! When we announce an opening, fill out our application form!
Q: How many team members are there? This changes as people join and depart the project, but we currently have over 150 amazing team members!
Q: Where does the team meet and work?Team members are required to join our Team Discord server, where we all work and develop the project together.
Q: What position on the team is most needed? This answer will change as roles are filled, but generally, we need more storyboard artists, animators, concept artists, and background artists.
Q: How much time should a team member be prepared to dedicate to the project? As this is a volunteer position, we don’t expect constant activity or undivided attention. We ask that all team members check in with their department directors every week on Fridays and that they are upfront and honest about their availability to work. Assignments will be given accordingly. Total absence is not acceptable.
Q: Is this a paid position? No. As we are a fan production adapting a copyrighted work, we do not pay our team members; they are all volunteers. We will, however, aid our team members in getting quality programs and resources to better serve their work and the project!
ABOUT THE ART
Q: What inspired the WCAnimated style? The WCA art style takes inspiration from a number of sources: real life as well as the art of Cartoon Saloon, and of course, the artists that make up the Warriors fandom.
Q: Can I draw in the WCA style?Of course! We love to see art in our style!
Q: Can I take commissions/make adopts in the WCA style?Because we are a non-profit project, we ask that you do not try to gain profit off of our project’s name/style.
Q: Can I draw fanart for the project?Definitely! Getting fanart always makes our day! Make sure to tag us!
Q: Will the series be 3D or 2D animation? Our series will be 2D animation. Any 3D content you see from us is for reference to aid our artists!
ABOUT APPLICATIONS
Q: When do applications open?We do not currently have set dates when applications open. However, we always announce on our social media accounts when applications do open. Make sure you’re following us so you don’t miss announcements!
Q: How will I know if I’ve been accepted or not?We will contact individuals whose applications have been accepted via the social media/preferred contact provided in the application form. If you are not accepted, you will not be notified and we will make an announcement when all messages have been sent.
Q: Can you give me feedback on my application? No. Due to the volume of submissions, we cannot give individual feedback on every person’s application. However, if you are subscribed to our Warrior tier or a higher tier on Patreon, you can receive personalized feedback on any applications or portfolios!
Q: What do you look for in an applicant? This depends on what role you happen to be applying for, but generally we look for people with strong fundamentals, artistic adaptability, and a willingness to learn and work! We look for portfolios that are compatible with the tone and style of our show. It may seem obvious, but it's crucial to show that you can fulfill the specific responsibilities of your desired role(s).
Q: Do I need professional experience/education to join the project? Not at all! While some of our team members are industry professionals, many are hobbyist artists or students! There is no experience requirement. We care most about you and your skills, not your background (although it never hurts to have experience)!
Q: Can I apply for multiple roles?Yes. You may apply for as many roles as you wish and can be accepted for just as many! In fact, most of our team members serve in at least two roles!
Q: I didn’t get into the project! Can I reapply?Yes! Don’t be discouraged! You are always welcome to reapply when we open applications again!
Q: Is there an age requirement to apply? You must be at least 16 years old before you can apply.
ABOUT VOICE ACTING
Q: Do you need voice actors?Yes! We have over a dozen voiced characters in the series and we will need actors to bring them to life!
Q: How do I audition to be a part of the cast? When a casting call goes live, you can join the site Casting Call Club to submit an audition. You can find our CCC page here. If you are chosen as a part of our cast, you will be contacted on CCC!
Q: When do auditions open?We do not have a set date, but any live casting calls will be announced across our social media accounts. We will host auditions for a few characters at a time, so there will be multiple casting calls (and multiple chances to audition)! Auditions remain open for at least a month, so there’s plenty of time to get your submission in!
Q: Is there an age requirement to audition?Actors must be at least 16 years of age.
Q: Can I audition for/voice multiple characters?Yes, definitely! You may audition for as many characters as you’d like and you could even be cast in multiple parts!
Q: What kind of accents are allowed?Any and all! All accents are welcome in our project; the most important thing is that you are able to enunciate and emote clearly!
Q: What do you look for in an actor? An ideal actor is able to emote clearly, enunciate, and enhance the story through their performance. We look for all of these things as well as strong characterization and good audio quality.
ABOUT TRANSLATION
Q: Will WCAnimated be translated into other languages?Yes! We hope to have subtitles available in many languages, including but not limited to: Spanish (Castillian & Latin American), Portuguese, Polish, Ukrainian, German, Russian, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and more!
Q: What about voice dubbing in other languages? We would love to have dubs in other languages! This will be a matter of who and what resources we can obtain, since dubbing requires a full team of proficient actors who are fluent speakers, as well as a voice director who can mediate between our team and the dubbing team! We anticipate a Spanish dub at minimum. With that said, we cannot say with certainty what dubs will be possible.
Q: How can I be involved with translating WCAnimated? We will open applications for translators on our social media platforms. When we do, you may fill out the application and from there, we will choose translators and explore possibilities for dubbing.
Q: Can I/my team translate/dub WCAnimated ourselves? While we appreciate the interest, we ask that if you are interested in translating or dubbing WCA, you contact us and go through the proper channels to be selected for these positions.
Q: Will you pay me/my team to dub WCAnimated? No. As with all other team positions, work for WCAnimated is strictly volunteer-based. We will not pay for dubbing or translation services.

A lot of her work is in character design, and she dubs herself the "cat ambassador" for cat-acting checks. She is allergic to cats. This does not stop her from adoring them. Her character illustrations can be found in games and books from Hit Point Press, Io Publishing, and Wizards of the Coast.

King - Animation Director

KingCabbage's terrific animation skills are a direct result of the fact that she's older than dirt and has been at it a long time! As a fledgling animator, King wanted to work for Disney, but attended animation school the very same year Disney shut down its 2D studio. Not one to give up so easily, King continued to train in 2D animation and found a thriving industry in television and mobile games. She is thrilled to be contributing her skills to these crazy battle cats through WCAnimated!
